Non-disclosure agreement (NDA)
The mutual promise not to repeat what each side learns.
Definition
A contract restricting what either party may disclose about the other's confidential information, usually signed before any detailed discussion. It is normally mutual, since a provider learns your roadmap while you learn their methods and pricing.
Why it matters
Check the term and the carve-outs rather than the headline. Two details do real work: how long confidentiality survives the engagement, and whether the provider may name you as a client. If you do not want to appear in a case study, that has to be excluded explicitly, because most NDAs permit it.
