Far-shore

Outsourcing to a location six or more hours from your working day.

Definition

Placing work in a country with a large time-zone gap, commonly six hours or more. It is a statement about geography, not about capability: several far-shore markets have deeper engineering talent than most near-shore ones.

Why it matters

Far-shore rewards written discipline. Where handovers, specifications, and acceptance criteria are genuinely good, the gap costs little and the cost saving is real. Where they are not, every ambiguity costs a full day, and that overhead usually exceeds the saving.
