Working practice
Overlap hours
How much of your working day you share with the team.
Definition
The number of hours in a normal working day during which both you and the people doing the work are online. It is the single most useful number when comparing outsourcing locations, and it is easy to compute from the time-zone offset.
Why it matters
Ask for the figure and check whether it holds year-round. Countries that do not observe daylight saving see their overlap with Europe shift twice a year, which quietly moves your stand-up. Lebanon shifts with the EU, so the gap stays put.
