Screening people before they reach your shortlist.
Definition
Assessing candidates for hands-on skill and communication before they are proposed to a client, so a shortlist can be produced in days rather than weeks. What counts as vetting varies enormously between providers.
Why it matters
Ask what the vetting actually consisted of. A recorded technical exercise reviewed by an engineer is worth something; a keyword match against a CV is not. Ask, too, how often the provider rejects its own candidates. A screen that passes everyone is not a screen.
